COURIER Study Area Chester Ring The Chester Ring provides alternate routes between the M56/M53 junction in England and the A55/A494 junction in Wales and is part of the main route from North West England to North Wales. Regular traffic problems in both directions occur and VMS and automatic queue detection systems have been installed.
The A483 which forms a north south route through eastern Wales has a major interchange with the A55 section of the ring whilst A55 is still in England. At present control of information infrastructure such as VMS lies with the Cheshire Constabulary control room in Chester and the NWTCC in Morfa, Conwy. |
