The HA's QMISS has been built to demonstrate and prove the concepts of the TIH. The QMISS Database stores dynamic and static traffic data collected from selected areas of the English motorway network as indicated in Figure 5. The dynamic traffic data consists of real time recording of the matrix signals, variable message signs, controlled motorway signs and emergency telephone status. ![]() Figure 5 - QMISS Geographic Coverage Authorised users of QMISS information access the database through the Internet. The access methods for external users are defined within the document "QMISS - VASP Interface Design Document" No 50118/TD/0002 available for download via the QMISS website at http://www.qmiss.org.uk/download/Qmiss-VaspInterface.doc. The main users of QMISS are Value Added Service Providers (VASPs) and Traffic Control Centres. QMISS already provides data to a number of other HA projects such as RTA (Road Traffic Advisor) and the TIH demonstrator project. QMISS will be the main data source for traffic information from England pertinent to road users in Wales. |
